2022-23 NE Lasers

2nd - 8th Grade

Winter Tryouts

Sunday August  21st

Grades 2nd - 8th Grade Girls

*Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tryout start for check-in.

Tryouts are held each year for all teams. The number of teams formed will depend on the number of players and available number of coaches. The decision as to who makes each team is very difficult and must be left to the coaches. Decisions will be final and are based on what is best for the continued success of the Laser organization. Players making a summer team will have to attend fall tryouts in August to secure a spot on a 2022-23 winter roster. The summer tryouts do not impact your daughter's position for a winter team. Summer cost ranges from $250-$600.

  • Each age group will be offering different commitment levels. These will include a combination of: Supreme 3 on 3 League, Practices, Laser Skill Sessions,  & Area/Regional Tournaments.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. If more than one team is there an “A” &“B” team or just an attempt to create balanced teams?

We have always believed - and experienced, that playing "like skilled" kids together is the best environment for growth and additional development. The younger age groups will sometimes strive for a little more balance of team strength based on size, athleticism, experience etc.

2. How flexible will the coach be with conflicts with other sports?

While we encourage multi-sport athletes, we also believe that the sport "in season" should receive priority should a conflict exist. Please choose the summer option that allows for this flexibility.

3.  Is the Laser organization affiliated with the Lincoln Public Schools, Pius X, Nebraska Wesleyan University or any other public, private school, college or university in anyway?

No. We are not affiliated with any respective school district, system or post-secondary institution. However, we work closely with several schools for facility use for practice and also with various area coaches for guidance.

4.  Are there teams for each age or is it mixed?

There will be teams for each grade. The number of teams per grade will depend on tryout numbers, player abilities and committed coaches.

5. Can a player "play up" with an older team or grade level?

Depends. We normally do not allow players to play at any other grade, except for the grade they attend in school. Occasionally, another team may need an additional player to participate in a tournament due to an injury or shortage of players. This is examined on a case by case basis.

6.  We have an existing team of girls that have played together before this upcoming season.  Should this group of girls all get selected to the organization can they stay together on a team?

The tryouts will determine which girls go on which team.  During our selection process we take into account ability and compatibility. The best thing for the girl’s development is to play with like skilled teammates and this may not always be girls they played or know prior.

7.  My daughter can’t make it to the tryout date due to injury, illness, vacation, other activity. How can she make a team?

The Nebraska Lasers will approve a secondary tryout date with three current coaches to evaluate your daughter.
